#ƮÈA_NEWS | GHANA | Ghanaian actress dispels bleaching rumours

Ghanaian actress Salma Munim has dispelled rumours making the rounds that she has started bleaching to catch the attention of producers to earn her lead roles in movies.

This because over the last few years, there is the perception that light skinned actors sell more making them the preferred choice of producers for leading roles, regardless of their acting capabilities.

As a result of this, some dark skinned actors and actresses have been rumoured to have resorted to bleaching to be cast in such roles too.

” I will not bleach and I have not bleached. I am confident with my body and skin tone and I like the way I look”, she told Showbiz last Monday.

The 25 year old actress made it clear that she is against bleaching because she is fully aware of the health hazards that it leaves in its trail.

“I admit being light skinned is nice because it gives you some confidence but bleaching is not good because of the damage it causes the skin. Moreover I don’t need to be light skinned to get roles. I know my capabilities and movie makers I have worked with can attest to that” she said.

Touching on other issues, the Passion and Soul actress revealed that she would not mind being in a relationship with a celebrity even though she believes “it will take some ‘X factor’ for us to sustain the relationship”.

Salma who hails from the Upper East Region has been in the movie industry for almost a decade.

She has since featured in a number of movies including ‘The Will’, ‘Seduction’, ‘No Apology’, ‘Crazy’ and ‘Five Brides’.

#ƮÈA_NEWS | GHANA I Fuse ODG Proves Doubting Thomases Wrong

Fuse ODG just like many Ghanaians was captivated by the ‘Azonto dance craze’ in Ghana and as a musician tweeted ‘Kilbeatz’ to produce a beat for his song ‘azonto’ which he featured Tiffanny. As a matter of fact he was taught how to dance Azonto by Killbeatz and he rightly paid homage to him in that song ‘Kilbeatz thought me this’.

The ‘azonto song’ became a hit and not only that Fuse ODG began the journey of promoting “the azonto dance” to the world which he succeeded in doing perfectly, but for him azonto dance would have been stagnant in Ghana.

But some believed that he was going to be a one hit maker after the release of his hit song “azonto” but that wasn’t to be the case as he proved the doubting Thomases wrong with even a bigger hit with the release of “Antenna” which subsequently has won him a MOBO AWARD.

Aside his talent, this is what intrigue me about FUSE ODG, unlike his colleagues like Sway and some Ghanaians who feel proud to identify themselves with countries in overseas they reside or were born into

Fuse ODG is a departure from that mentality and feels proud to be Ghanaian and reps our country even though he has stayed in UK for God knows when.

Apart from that, he is using his music not only to pioneer azonto but rally Africans together and seeks to change the negative impression about our continent as a result of the negative publicity the western media portray us.This is the reason behind his slogan.

“THIS NEW AFRICA” and fellow Africans who love his music have bought into it.

With such a VISION backed with a MISSION and communicated through words and actions with PRECISION by Fuse ODG I have no doubt in my mind that it will lead to a successful COMPLETION!!

#ƮÈA_NEWS | SOUTH AFRICA | South Africa's Dreadlock Thieve

Jack Maseko was recently mugged by three men in South Africa; they wanted nothing but his mobile phone and the dreadlocks he had spent three years patiently growing. “They had a knife and cut off my hair with scissors. I still feel pain when I think about that night," the 28-year-old Zimbabwean tells the BBC. “I used to see people selling dreadlocks on the streets and didn't know where it came from," he adds.

Dreadlocks can take several years to grow but many people are impatient with the growth process thus the demand for ready locks in the black market, according to hairstylists. The thieves will use anything from a knife to broken glass to steal the prized hair - known on the streets as a cut and run. So what happens to the stolen hair? Stylists use a new method known as crocheting - using a thin needle, they are able to convert relaxed and European hair into dreads by weaving additional human hair pieces into the straight hair - giving a client long-locked hair instantly. Shoulder-length dreadlocks retail between 200 rand ($23; £15) to 700 rand, while longer ones cost as much as 2,000 rand.

Santarem, Brazil – Those who buy meat at a supermarket might think it grows on trees and at harvest time it gets placed in those little plastic containers they find on theshelves. The reality is a lot different though, as making the meat we eat is a messy business on industrial scale.
If your primary image of cows is one of them running around in fields, you might want to avoid this gallery. Viewer discretion is advised.

I’m Pregnant for My Mother’s New Husband

Nancy’s father died in a ghastly motor accident when she was barely two months old. His photographs were always with her but she never knew him. She prodded her mother endlessly to tell her stories about her father and was never tired hearing the same thing over and again.

Anytime she saw her friends with their fathers, she was sad and longed for that person she could refer to as a father. Along the line, she gained admission into a polytechnic to study accountancy.

As a first year diploma student of accountancy:
She became really close to Ahmed, a final year HND student of the same department. They were from the same tribe and spoke the same language. Being a fresher who was largely ignorant about her surroundings and the way things worked, she found succour in him, who was only too glad to provide a shoulder for her to lean on.

While Nancy saw in him a guardian, Ahmed saw in her, a prey he couldn’t wait to feast on. He slept with her and deceived her into thinking that he cared very much about her.

Shortly before he graduated, he pledged his undying love for her and she believed him. Unfortunately, whatever existed between them both ended as soon as he left. Try as she could, nothing could be done about restoring their relationship. He had moved on with another woman.

She picked up the pieces of her life and moved on. Not too long after, she met Lawrence, an older student in the same polytechnic.

He was contented remaining her very good friend, offering her succour and advice when needed but Nancy wanted more. She loved his disposition and wanted him for keeps. With time, she won him over and like her previous relationship, it ended same way.

Again, she moved on. By the time she began making plans to start her internship; her mother had found love with a well-known business man, Igwe Albert, who married her as his second wife.

Naturally, Nancy became his step daughter. Igwe ensured that his new wife was happy—he set her up in business, got her a good apartment and a car. He also ensured that his step daughter lacked nothing.

He even urged her to have her internship in the accounts department of his company. Seeing how well she did her job and even helping to reduce his overhead cost, he came to appreciate her and showered her with praises and gifts.

It soon got to a point where she stayed back after most of the workers have closed for the day, balancing the books. On such occasions, Igwe would stay back to keep her company and related with her the way a father would with a daughter.

Nancy appreciated this kind gesture and quickly warmed up to him. She was glad to have found a real father figure at last!

One evening, when they were relating as usual, their discussion soon became raunchy and they had sex in the office! She felt bad that she had betrayed her mother.

“I don’t want you to tell your mother about what happened tonight,” Igwe said and signed a cheque of N2m in her name. She didn’t believe he could be this generous and thought this could be the last intimate moment they would share together.

But it wasn’t. Igwe kept coming for her and so were the gifts and money. Her initial fear was erased. Nancy relaxed and went full throttle with him. Not even the mother suspected anything because she believed her husband was taking care of her daughter.

Three months after, she became pregnant and her mother and the first wife soon found out. But Nancy refused an abortion.

“Mother, do you remember what the prophet you took me to when I was 18 years old said?” Nancy asked her mother. Her mother had taken her to a prophet for prayers when she suffered from a strange ailment and medical help failed. Nancy was prayed for and she got better. The prophet warned her mother that the girl must never have an abortion, if she did, she would die!

“So, you are going to keep the pregnancy and marry my husband?” her mother said despitefully.

“Nancy, the prophecy was five years ago and it was because of your illness. You must go for an abortion.”

Surprisingly, even Igwe sits on the fence about it and told mother and daughter to take the decision they felt was the best for them.

But both Nancy’s mother and his first wife are set for battle. They asked that the pregnancy be terminated.

Kanu Hopes Eagles Will Correct Mistakes

Former Eagles star Nwankwo Kanu has urged Coach Stephen Keshi to correct the mistakes in his squad ahead of next month’s 2014 World Cup play-off match against Ethiopia at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
The Super Eagles left themselves in the driving seat to earn one of the five African tickets to next year’s Brazil finals after beating the Walya Antelopes 2-1 I Addis Ababa.
While praising the African champions, the former Arsenal striker said it was important for the team to checkmate the lapses if they must qualify for the finals in style.
“I have to congratulate (Stephen) Keshi and the team. In the first half we were not in the game, but in the second half we showed that we wanted it more.
“Well done to Emenike. He was my man of the match. We are halfway to Brazil. Let’s go home and correct our mistakes and fight more and God will see us through”, added Kanu.
